Born and raised in Newark, NJ during his childhood, Albert Appouh has witnessed first-hand the issues that afflict this city. However, Albert has managed to overcome the obstacles that come with living in Newark and has excelled as both a standout student and community leader.

Driven by a desire to give back to the community, Albert has coordinated, managed, and participated in various volunteer projects, charities, and community service events. As an inductee into the Rutgers Honors College, completed at least ten hours of community service per semester. Albert was also the president of the Rutgers Student Outreach Council, the premier community service organization at Rutgers Universiy.

Albert has taken his dedication to serving his community one step further by founding Newark Cares and he currently serves as manager and CEO of the Newark Cares website.
